The first round of the NYC Midnight short story competition is underway, and I'm in it as always. My prompts are: horror, superstitions, and a treasurer. And of course, being me, I've gone all kinds of Lovecraftian madness on this thing. I'm actually pretty proud of it. Can't share it here because I want to see how it does in the competition - which I'll find out in April - and then start shopping it to publishers.
If you haven't heard of the NYC Midnight competitions, and you're a writer - especially one suffering writers' block - I have found that this competition has forced me to write some of my best ever short stories. I highly recommend checking it out.
